Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct for Teachers

  1. Teachers should handle the subjects assigned by the Principal/Head of the Department.
  2. Teachers should complete the syllabus in time and are accountable for producing good results in the subjects they handle.
  3. Mentor system must be effectively implemented. Faculty shall monitor their assigned group of students.
  4. Teachers should be good counselors and facilitators, helping to ensure the Teaching-Learning Process is effective and successful. Value-based education must be their motto.
  5. Teachers should maintain decorum inside and outside the classroom, setting a good example for students.

Specific Aspects

  1. Teachers must report on time to duty as per prescribed working hours and stay in the campus unless assigned duties elsewhere.
  2. Prior written permission should be obtained for reporting late or leaving early.
  3. In case of unplanned leave, the teaching faculty must inform the academic in-charge & principal for class adjustment.
  4. Teachers should sign the attendance register when reporting for duty.
  5. Teachers are expected to arrive at least 10 minutes before the College's starting time.
  6. Teachers should remain on campus until the end of College hours.
  7. Staff should not use their position in the college for private advantage or gain.
  8. Teaching staff must maintain teaching diaries properly for all semesters.

General Points

  1. Teachers are prohibited from using cell phones while teaching classes.
  2. Prior written permission is required from the principal at least one day in advance when availing planned leave.
  3. No more than 25% of staff members from any department are allowed to go on leave on a particular day.
  4. Half-day CL is allowed.
  5. 12 days of casual leave can be availed in a calendar year.

Code of Conduct for Non-Teaching Staff

  1. Non-teaching staff working in the College office or departments should remain on duty during College hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
  2. Non-teaching staff assigned to Laboratories should keep the Labs clean.
  3. Non-teaching staff shall complete assignments given by the principal or faculty members to whom they are attached.
  4. The lab staff must ensure that the lab is clean and ready for practical sessions.
  5. Lab staff must monitor the students during practicals to prevent mishandling of equipment.

Code of Conduct for Students

  1. Students must abide by the rules and regulations of the college and conduct themselves with discipline and decorum.
  2. Students must attend classes regularly and punctually, avoiding any action that disrupts the smooth functioning of the college.
  3. Students must be clean and decorous in dress, language, and behavior.
  4. Smoking, drinking, and drug use are strictly prohibited on campus.
  5. Students must salute members of the teaching staff.
  6. Students must rise when a teacher enters the classroom and remain standing until directed to sit.
  7. Students must not enter or leave classrooms during sessions without the teacher’s permission.
  8. Students should remain in the Library/Reading room if they are free during class time and not loiter in the college premises.
  9. Students must handle college property with care and maintain the cleanliness of furniture, buildings, and premises.
  10. Any loss or damage to college property will result in a collective fine or double the cost for the responsible students.
  11. Students must not address any gathering without special permission from the principal.
  12. Megaphones, loudspeakers, and mobile phones must not be used without permission.
  13. Posters, flags, memorials, floral arches, and festoons should not be displayed on campus.
  14. Indecent behavior towards the opposite sex will not be tolerated.
  15. Students must not invite outsiders to enter the campus without permission.
  16. Demonstrations or campaigning of any kind on college premises is strictly prohibited.
  17. Rioting or agitating against groups of students or faculty members will not be tolerated.
  18. Students with grievances must report them to the Grievance Cell.
  19. Ragging, teasing, and harassment are punishable offenses under the Police Act and will be dealt with strictly.
  20. Students must maintain good behavior, respecting the rights of others, and contributing to the college’s reputation.
  21. The authority of the principal extends outside the campus.
  22. The use of multimedia phones and activities like obscene cinematic dances and fashion shows are banned on campus.
  23. Political activism is strictly prohibited on campus, and students cannot organize or attend meetings without permission.
  24. Students are not allowed to make mass petitions to the principal. Complaints should be made by teams of no more than three students.
  25. Any additional rules and regulations issued by the Management or Principal must be adhered to.

Attendance & Leave of Absence

  1. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each period.
  2. Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance per subject per term as required by university rules.
  3. Students participating in sports, cultural activities, and NSS camps will receive attendance credit, subject to providing participation certificates.
  4. Leaving the classroom without permission after roll call is punishable.
  5. Impersonating someone at roll call is a serious offense.
  6. Leave applications for absences of more than 4 days due to illness must be supported by medical certificates.
  7. Students absent for more than 15 consecutive working days without explanation will have their names temporarily removed from the roll.
  8. Disciplinary action will be taken against students repeatedly absent on insufficient grounds.
  9. Students requiring leave for a day or part of a day must apply to the principal or authorized teacher and submit the form to the college office on the day of return.
